SELECTED COMMITTEES

 

Civic Development

Civic Development supports the Town of Hudson parks and recreational facilities.  The Co-Chairpersons are Debbie Dietz and Kay Russell.

 

Garden Therapy

The Hudson Garden Club has served the elderly in Hudson and has also served seniorsÕ at New HorizonÕs  Alzheimer Unit in Marlborough by teaching gardening techniques and assisting with craft projects that involve plant material.

 

In recent years our Club has been working with youth groups such as the ÒBrowniesÓ , local Grade schools and the Girl Scouts of America with workshops on gardening and flower arranging and enlisting their support at the Wayside Inn over the Christmas Holidays.  Currently we are working in area schools with bulb planting and gardening techniques.

 

Anyone  interested in helping either the disadvantage, elderly or the young in the enjoyment of gardening would do well on this committee. .  The Co-Chairpersons are Nya Saliga and Linda Desnoyers.

 

Program

The Program Committee plans and contracts with Interesting Presenters for the clubs monthly meetings.  Donna Shapleigh and Linda Desnoyers are the Chairpersons and can be reached  as follows:

Scholarship

Each year scholarships are available from the club to promote the further education of graduating students from Hudson schools or for teachers to use in appropriate selected projects.  Past Presidents of the Club are members of the Scholarship Committee.  Mary Giant is the Chairperson and can be reached at (978) 562-9074 or by email

 

Ways and Means

The Ways and Means Committee seeks individuals with creative ideas and the enjoyment of designing crafts for the purpose of fundraising to support the ClubÕs ambitious programming. Good Programming serves the members in creative skills, and teaching to better serve not only themselves, but the community in which they live.

 

The Current project that this committee is active in is the Gigantic Yard Sale in June.

 

Conservation

The purpose is to teach members and the public simple ways one can conserve energy and resources in creative ways. This committee also collects used cell phones for re-cycling as well as printer ink cartridges. Chairperson is Alice Ferjulian

 

Horticulture

The purpose is to teach gardening techniques to its members and the public. Mrs Ferjulian has used this committee to remind gardeners when itÕs best to prune back shrubs and trees. She reminds us when to begin the planting of vegetables and annuals as well as tips in planting bulbs, watering and times to fertilize.  Chairperson is Alice Ferjulian
